GiddyGlove PA'RC is dedicated to helping young people succeed through the adversities of life. In our efforts to help young people we work to help those who care for them. As the adults charged with teaching our children what they need to know to succeed at life, we help them do better by doing better ourselves. FIRST THINGS FIRST

Before you can start applying for jobs you will need to know a few things. You will need to know the requirements, qualifications , and hours of operation for any job you may be interested in doing. While what seems like most jobs are during the hours of 6 -6, there are many occupations and careers which require the not so traditional hours. Some of the most rewarding careers have 24 hour schedules which may often times operate on a not so traditional schedule. But that is okay, people require service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 and sometime 366 days a year. (525,600 minutes, 525,00 moments ) how do YOU MEASURE A YEAR ... .

GET READY

Before you start applying make sure you take time to prep. Choosing a job or pursing a career should not be done without some consideration. You will want to think about 

  1. What hours work best for you? - Remember travel time matters. The position may be part time but you spend so much time commuting it maximizes your time like a full time job. 
  2. What are the Cost of the Cummute?- Getting the job is one part of the equation. If you are able to secure a position how will you get to and from work everyday? Are you going to use public transportaion? Will you need to take one bus, two bus, three bus, MORE? Maybe. Or you may need to take a combinattion. You may be one bus ride away. Either way you will need to factor in the time and of course, the Cost.
  3. Does the compensation meet your needs? 

Doing a job just to say you work may not be the most effective use of your time. Often underated efficiency can help you effectively meet your objectives and achieve your Goals. Achieving your gaols is a very realistic possibility. However, it is essential that You know Your goals, how else can you "Acheive" them.

GET SET

Taking time to prepare your resume before you start your job search can be benefiecial to your efforts, however keep in mind every job is different. Look for employment opportunities that match your skills, abilities, and experience level. Depending on the length of your Journey so far you may have more skills than needed for the position, That does not mean it is not a good fit for you, that means you will need to ensure you utilize only the experience pertinent to the position you seek. Despite poplual opion, more is not always better, and there is a such thing as "too much". Tak the time to find out about the company and the position before you apply to help you personalize your resume and Cover letter.

GET GOING...

After you gather your information and , downloaded and customized your *. 

Once you have finished personalizing and completing your resume and cover letter(s) start applying. *Many companies use online app processes and systems whiich will allow you to set up your Job Search Account. It would be befeficial to your process if you set up your account before you start applying. Taking an hour or so now to set up your account will save you countless hours during your searchs. Best of all you do not have to set Job Seeker accounts for every job you apply to, more often than not you simply set up your account and start applying. Your presaved information will be automatically added to your account and often times you can upload Resume and cover Letter if desired.

While there are many people who rely on nepotism to start a career, Cilil service positions require canidater to take an entry-level civil service exam, So regardless of who you know, how long your have known them, or how you may be related to them, civil service exam serves as an entry level assesment of skills and compententices required to perform a position, Assessment (VEA) exams used by the USPS assess a candidate's skills and aptitude for various positions. Yes Applicants for USPS mail carrier jobs must take civil service examinations. The written examination is composed of four parts: cross-comparison of addresses, completion of forms, memory and coding, and personal characteristics and experience.

Same Day Work Program

UPLIFT SOLUTIONS

Same Day Work Program (SDWP)

Uplift Solutions is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 with a mission of: “Reducing the barriers for justice involved individuals and at-risk youth, helping them find pathways to long-term success.”

This program targets individuals who are experiencing homeless, or housing insecure. They could be a returning citizen, a veteran and or person with a disability.

Uplift’s SDWP program runs 4 days per week for 3 weeks with participants receiving $50 per day for 4 hours of training/employment. When the program completes, employers have the opportunity to hire the participants.

Enrollment

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older
  • Must reside in the Philadelphia area
  • There is NO ID required to enroll in Same Day Work Pay

Code of Conduct

  • Good attitude and prepared to work (full 4 hours)
  • Arrive on-time
  • No-substance use prior or on work site detail
  • Must contribute to the work
  • Must use the provided equipment
  • For safety proper clothing and footwear is recommended
  • Respect staff, peers, and other workers
  • Follow the direction of the site Supervisor and/or Crew Chiefs

Rebuild Services

Comprehensive Reentry Support for Success

Offering services to individuals over 18 years old who have had contact with the criminal justice system and reside in designated high-poverty, high-crime communities in Philadelphia.

The Program provides support through two grants, catering to young adults in Philadelphia with criminal justice involvement and adults currently incarcerated in state and local facilities preparing to return to their communities.

Our Services Include 

Vocational Training: Earn certifications in fields like Culinary Arts & Hospitality

Case Management: Benefit from referrals to resources including addiction services and mental health resource

Career Readiness and Job Placement Assistance: Equip yourself with the skills to secure and maintain employment

Financial Incentives: Receive financial support for job training and job placement.

Continued Support: Benefit from the support for one year after program completion and as part of our alumni
